The Galil ACE is in many ways the pride and joy of IWI’s rifle lineup. Rigorously improved over the years in its Gen 1 configuration and now finally in its GEN 2 configuration.So I was dead set on getting the Tavor 7 whenever it gets released. The Galil ACE Gen 2 represents the most modern Galil to date and is an Israeli export made available here in the states. The rifles come in 5.56, 7.62 NATO, and of course, 7.62x39mm. In the 7.62x39mm round, it uses common and affordable AK-47 series magazines. The rifle is capable of excellent accuracy.Galil ACE Gen 2 would be made better with a KNS plastic delete kit, and a better trigger if you're so inclined. SAM7SF could use a trigger job, or new trigger. Either way they're great rifles that would benefit from a KNS piston (if it feels overgassed, or you plan on suppressing it),and a great feeling trigger. Just my thoughts.
With the lightest AR stock (B5 CAR15 replica) and Occam Defense sights the Gen 2 still is 2 ounces heavier than the Gen 1. Magpul stock that came with the Gen 2 added 3 or 4 ounces if I recall. That was all the Gen I. The Gen II was pretty much just a US market accommodation. Functionally its fine, but you lose a lot of the history and infamy along with it.
